Week 2 - Islam & Sustainable Development

Class Overview

So this is our second week of learning this subject, and we've spoken about Islam and social sustainability, environmental sustainability, and economic sustainability. Islam supports community welfare, justice, and compassion as means of ensuring societal sustainability. It promotes assisting those in need and building strong relationships within society. For environmental sustainability, Islam teaches reverence for nature and emphasises the need to safeguard the environment. And last for economic sustainability Islam calls for fair trade and ethical business practices. It promotes charitable giving (Zakat) and the equitable distribution of wealth.
