Week 1 - Introduction Of Sustainable Development

Class Overview

For the first class of this subject is about taaruf among us. The lecturer asked our name, kulliyyah, hometown, high school(former school), and he also asked us to describe ourself and the subject by using just one word.

Personal Reflection

To begin with, before I study this subject I believe that it will be difficult to learn and understand because when we talk about sustainable development we also talk about environmental protection, economic development and social equity and these topics is on a different level for me. However, because of my lecturer's skill in teaching this subject, I found that this it is both facsinating and easy to understand. Thanks to Professor  Suhaimi.

Application of Learning

I intend to implement everyday activities that encourage sustainability, such as reducing trash, conserving energy, and supporting local businesses. In terms of community involvement, I explore ways to interact with your community to create awareness of sustainable development, such as workshops, volunteer work, or collaboration with local organisations.

Areas of Improvement

I recognise that I could improve my understanding of sustainable development by focussing on knowledge gaps in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental policy. In terms of skill development, I consider abilities that will help me contribute to sustainable development, such as project management, advocacy, and research.

Conclusion

Sustainable development is critical to sustaining a healthy planet for future generations by balancing economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social fairness. Through my blog, I hope to explore practical solutions and offer insights about living sustainably, and I urge you to join me on this journey. Your voice is important, and together we can inspire action and generate meaningful change! Remember, every small action counts towards a larger goal and that together, we can create a sustainable future.

  3. The first class began with an engaging ta’aruf session, which served as more than just a simple introduction. It became a moment of self-awareness, connection, and anticipation for the journey ahead. Described yourself as a student in one word, encouraging you to reflect on your identity and aspirations, pushing you to think creatively and meaningfully about who you are and what you could bring to this class.

Listening to your peers’ introductions made you realise the beauty of ukhuwwah—despite your diverse kulliyyah, hometowns, and backgrounds, you share a common purpose: to learn, grow, and support one another. This simple activity built a sense of belonging and reminded you of the importance of community in both learning and life.

    1. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Professor. The ta’aruf session truly was a meaningful start to our journey in this class. Thank you for creating a space that values connection and self-reflection as much as learning. I’m excited to see how this experience unfolds!
